Visualizer. Designer. Storyteller. I am composed of a thousand different faces, but the drive to create lies beneath each one.

Jay Cortés claimed a number of roles throughout his life. His first career aspiration as a child was to become a garbage man. By his teens, thoughts of drawing for comic books or role-playing games filled his mind. College saw him graduate as an Illustration major, looking for work in children’s books. Then a twist of fate caused him to turn a college semester of web design into his daily livelihood for the next decade.

Except for the whole garbage man thing, Jay seemed drawn to professions that allowed him to flex his creative muscles. More specifically, he was unconsciously drawn to vehicles that allowed him to tell stories. But it took many years and a self-reflective speech for Toastmasters to make Jay realize this for himself.

Greatly inspired by fantasy author Patrick Rothfuss and YouTube stars John Green and Hank Green, Jay tried his hand at writing and video. Which brings us to today.

Headaches & Euphoria is the product of a New Year’s resolution made by Jay Cortés to capture his family memories and stories in video form. Each week promises at least one new tale of humor, despair, or both.
